Amanda LaFleur was born and raised in Ville Platte, surrounded by the Louisiana French language and culture. She has devoted much of her life to teaching, documenting and promoting the language in various creative ways. Her dedication has been a long, impactful road that has lead us here - to selecting Amanda LaFleur as the 2024 Le Grand Hoorah Honoree!

A pioneer in the integration of Louisiana French language and culture, Amanda’s list of contributions include: decades of teaching LA French, radio programming via, writing books, theatrical productions, numerous educational workshops and courses for teachers and university students.
